4 Trails for Theresa & Tim

The Combined Kayak Fishing Trails of North Carolina present

FOUR TRAILS FOR THERESA AND TIM

A charity event for Tim “NCPierman” Taramelli & Family

On July 15th, 2018, fisherman and fishing guide Mr. Timothy Taramelli was driving with his daughter Theresa to go fishing at Core Creek on the southern Neuse River. Tim and Theresa were severely injured when Tim’s truck was struck by another vehicle. To raise money for his family’s medical expenses, the North Carolina Kayak Fishing Association, Queen City Kayak Bass Fishing, Carolina Kayak Anglers and Plastic Pirates have combined to sponsor a month-long charity event in which 100% of entry fees will go to the Taramelli family.

Format

  • Month-long event (Midnight, October 1st to Midnight, October 31st). Sign up open throughout the month.
  • Total length of your 5 best black bass (spotted, largemouth, or smallmouth)

Postponement Announcement: Gate City Classic

Hi everyone,

Well, Hurricane Florence saved her worst for last so far as central North Carolina is concerned. We were hit with catastrophic flooding caused by torrential rains that swamped the area over the past 36 hours. The CKA tournament directors discussed the matter extensively among themselves and also with KBF and Get: Outdoors. Our final determination was that damaged roads, closed launches and flooded lakes made the event impossible to hold this coming weekend.

As a result, the Gate City Classic/KBF Trail is postponed to October 6th.

If you already paid for the CKA event and would like a refund, email Will Seely at Get:Outdoors at this address: will@shopgetoutdoors.com

If you already paid for the KBF Trail event and cannot make the re-scheduled date, contact Richard Penny.

We appreciate your patience, and we hope everyone continues to stay safe.

Sincerely,

Larry, Henry, Ron, Ralph and Wayne

Event 7: Lake Mackintosh

CKA Tournament 7

Lake Mackintosh

August 11, 2018

Welcome Anglers to 2018 Tournament #7, and the second to last event of the regular season! Please note the important info below about launch times.

Both the AOY and ROY races are tight. Here is what is at stake in the final two events:

  • CKA Tournament of Champions Qualification
  • KBF National Championship Qualification
  • Angler of the Year & Rookie of the Year crowns

We last fished Mackintosh for a single event in August of 2016. Lake Mackintosh (1,100 acres) has no horsepower restrictions for gas boats, but a large area for non-gas watercraft and boats on the western, Guilford County end.  It is a city lake with special restrictions so please abide by all state and local rules.

This will be a multi-launch event using both the Guilford and Alamance ramps. CKA staff will be available at both launches to collect entry fees in the morning beginning at 6 am. We will hold the check in at the Guilford ramp at the end of the day.

CKA Tournament of Champions Prizes and Format

CKA established the Tournament of Champions in 2016 to provide an end-of-season event for the top anglers on our trail. Fun and prizes are the event’s focus. Denny Romero won that inaugural 1-day event on the Yadkin River and Melvin Yang won last year’s expanded 2-day event at Lake Norman (for a short history, click here).

This year’s event (October 13 & 14) will again expand and improve the tournament. First, it will be a best 10 fish event (5/5 over two days). Second, it will be held on a lake the CKA has not fished this season (we will announce the lake at the Gate City Classic). Third, the field will expand slightly: in addition to the top 25, winners of individual events, the AOY and ROY will qualify (we also awarded a spot to the winner of the Bass event at the Boonedox Yadkin Slam).

Finally, a new expanded range of prizes have been organized. It includes:

$1,000 guaranteed for 1st place

An additional $1,000 in cash prizes spread out over the field (days 1 & 2)*

Free overnight camping accommodations for the top 10

Sponsor product giveaways

A Custom engraved trophy, designed by artist Ross Myer (FL) at Bass Trophies.

& more!
