We are catching up on posts, and apologize for the delay. Our site was transferred to a new server last week and we had some changes to make.
We updated the 2017 gallery with photos from Randleman, including action shots that were not posted to Facebook. Thank you everyone for making it a great tournament and congratulations to the winners on both the CKA and KBF events! Thank you also to Get:Outdoors for hosting the Captains Meeting, and all of our sponsors. Wilderness Systems deserves a special thanks for providing the Radar 115! You can see the photo gallery here: http://www.carolinakayakanglers.com/?page_id=1586
We will post AOY update and details for the Shearon Harris event in the coming days. One quick note about the Harris tournament: both ramps will be available to anglers, and CKA staff will be at each for the morning check ins/meetings.
Hello everyone and thanks again to all of the anglers who recently fished at Lake Badin, as well as our sponsors for their generosity. CKA tournament attendance is up from last year and we are on track break our seasonal attendance record. A few numbers below, courtesy of Mr. Butler:
- 296 Anglers have fished in our 5 events to date
- 139 different people have fished at least one of our events in 2017
- 60 angler average per event
Once again, we thank everyone who competes with us to make CKA the most well-attended series in the state. These numbers would be even higher if some of our veteran anglers were not busy traveling to compete at KBF Trail events that have conflicted with our tournaments. The other side of that story is that we have welcomed many new kayak anglers to the series, and they have infused it with new talent.
We have updated the Angler of the Year standings through 5 events (Norman, Falls, Jordan, Hickory and Badin). With 3 events remaining in the season there is room for earning points and the battle for the top spot remains close. Also, there is room to qualify for the top 5 (who qualify for KBF National Championship) and the Top 25.
An Excel file of the current and complete AOY standings can be found at this link: CKA AOY Standings 06192017

We look forward to seeing everyone at Lake Randleman on July 8th!!
Hello everyone, this is an update about CKA preparations for the next event on July 8th at Randleman Lake. Like the event we held earlier this season at Falls Lake, this will be be a 2 tournament event, with parallel competitions. One event will be CKA Tournament #6 and the other will be a KBF Trail event (anglers can register for one or both). As before, there will be additional prizes and the KBF Trail event guarantees $1,000 for 1st place if at least 30 anglers participate. And also as before, we expect a big crowd of anglers from around the region and country.
We are currently tending to logistics and will communicate additional details in the coming days. A few early points for those planning travel:
a) The Friday night (July 7) Captains Meeting will be held at Get:Outdoors in Greensboro, N.C.
b) This will be a multi-launch event, with the lake’s two launches available to anglers.
c) Sign up for the Trail event is already available on Tourneyx. CKA event sign up will be available soon!
We will post complete details in the coming days, as well as CKA AOY updates, photo gallery updates, etc.

Hello everyone, and thanks again to all of the anglers who fished at Lake Hickory this past weekend, as well as our sponsors for their generosity. This is a quick post to inform you we have updated the Angler of the Year standings through 4 events (Norman, Falls, Jordan and Hickory). With 4 events remaining in the season there is plenty of room for earning points and gaining ground for the top spot, the top 5 (who qualify for KBF National Championship) and the Top 25.

We look forward to seeing everyone at Lake Badin on June 3rd!
CKA Event #5
Lake Badin, NC
June 3, 2017
CKA welcomes Anglers to Event #5 on Badin Lake (last visited by us in 2014). It’s the Southernmost Lake on the Yadkin/Pee-Dee river chain and one of the oldest impounded lakes in North Carolina.
Badin contains 5,350 surface acres of water, 115 miles of shoreline, and an average depth of 90 feet with a maximum depth of 190 feet. This diverse fishery hosts all three major Black Bass species (Largemouth bass, Smallmouth bass, and Spotted Bass) as well as Striped Bass and Walleye. With its deep structure, rocky islands, grassy shorelines, flats, points and boat docks, there will be ample opportunity for every style of fishing.
This will be a single launch event from the Badin Public Access and Swimming area. The area is in a small park, just north of the boat launch at the southern end of the lake. Anglers will also check back into this same area at the conclusion of the event.
There are four events remaining (not including the October Top 25 event)…… The AOY standings remain very competitive. Remember that CKA takes the angler’s best six event finishes for the season towards your AOY points, so there is still a great opportunity to work towards both AOY and the top 25.
