CKA Tournament #6 & KBF Trail: Lake Randleman

CKA/KBF Trail Event

Randleman Lake, NC

July 8, 2017

 Overview

Welcome anglers to Event #6 of the 2017 CKA tournament season. The tournament will be held on July 8th at Randleman Lake located in Randleman, N.C. The event will be held in conjunction with a KBF Trail Event.  Anglers may fish either the CKA and KBF event separately, or fish both events simultaneously.

The CKA event is a 3 fish limit event and the KBF Trail event is a 5-fish limit event, but an angler’s 3 CKA fish can be cross-posted to the KBF event on Tourney X. Additionally, non-KBF members can compete in the KBF event but we encourage anglers to sign up as KBF members.  This post contains

  1. Lake and License Info

Randleman Lake is a young 3,007 acre reservoir located on the Deep River south of Greensboro, North Carolina.  The lake was opened in 2010 and quickly earned a regional and national reputation as a great Largemouth Bass fishery. Due to its status as a water supply Lake Randleman is carefully managed and does not allow overnight fishing or boats to run in excess of 25 mph. Additionally, motor boats are not allowed north of the Highway 62 bridge. Combined management practices, the presence of native and stocked fish as well as significant shoreline structure and vegetation make Randleman an excellent fishery and a favorite annual stop for the CKA tournament series.

Please be sure to obtain a valid N.C. license, and follow parking regulations at the lake’s two launches. Note that motor boats do launch at the south ramp as well (please be respectful and follow good ramp etiquette), whereas the north ramp is limited to paddle craft and electric motors.

2. Boundaries and Rules

This joint event will follow KBF rules only, and dismiss any CKA exceptions to the KBF rules made on the CKA rules page. For example, motors are allowed for both events. This means that even an angler who only fishes the CKA event is still responsible for following KBF rules.

Therefore, anglers must be familiar with and follow KBF rules as well as all North Carolina fishing laws and local regulations as they apply to Randleman Lake.

3. Launches

The tournament is a multi-launch event, and the listed access areas (in the map below) will be the only eligible locations to launch on Lake Randleman. This is because KBF rules require equal access for all anglers. Keep in mind that launches at Randleman have limited space and driving access, so there will be lines. Be sure to arrive early, respect fellow boaters and be careful and helpful at the launches.

Of the 2 available launches, both will be open at 6 am. There are additional launch fees. Please keep in mind that CKA and KBF do not control access to the ramps and if a gate is closed or it opens late, there is nothing either series can do to change that fact.  Late opening will not affect check-in time at the end of the day.
