VKAE and FKA join the Battle on the Border!

Virginia Kayak Anglers Elite [VKAE] and Foothills Kayak Anglers [FKA] have joined the inter-state stable of kayak tournament organizations who participate in organizing and running the annual Battle on the Border kayak fishing tournament. Their participation expands the event’s number of actively participating clubs to a total of six organizations. First place, finally: Brooks Lanier wins at Tuckertown

First place, finally: Brooks Lanier wins at Tuckertown

Brooks Lanier has been fishing with CKA since 2017. He fished alongside legendary names like Ricky Rowland and the Hawj brothers, dominant anglers who seemed to finish in the money at nearly every tournament. Lanier kept fishing hard and learning. He came close to winning. Boorsma is Victorious at Mack, Lanier takes AOY Lead

Introduction Mackintosh was one of the most highly anticipated events of the season and the CKA turnout was exceptional – especially for a mid-summer event. Thank you to all who competed! While Mack did not show out with century club limit lengths, it did deliver huge fish – over one dozen bass over 20” in length were caught, including Jeremy Way’s 22.5” toad, which is the new top catch in the Str8Up Mounts Big Bass contest for the season. Since those two North Carolina kayak fishing clubs adopted five fish limits, no lake in the state has produced more 100” limits than Lake Mackintosh. And it isn’t even close. From a total of 22 CCKF tournaments since 2020, Mackintosh has produced two of…

Recap: Tsiolkas wins at Randleman, Stiff stays constant

Introduction The second half of CKA’s 10th anniversary season features familiar lakes and summer bites. As the Randleman event approached to start the back half of the schedule, the news was that the lake’s bite was great (and an 11 pounder caught in early June only fed the anticipation). With Randleman returning to the Gate City Classic list of lakes (and Mackintosh, too), it was time to return to the lake where CKA started. The weather tried its best to ruin that parade, however. All week long, band after band…
