Happy New Year to all of the CKA anglers. Excitement is building as we usher in 2017 and the 4th season of the Carolina Kayak Anglers tournament trail. We proudly announce our first event of this 2017 season and we welcome all anglers to join us on what is sometimes referred to the “inland sea” of North Carolina, Lake Norman.<\/p>\n
Lake Norman is fed from the north by the Catawba River, its 520 miles of shoreline with average depths of 33 ft. and sometimes super clear water will present a dynamic challenge for anglers. The upper end (where we will launch) is loaded with boat docks, submerged brushpiles, rock piles and long points which will provide opportunities for many different styles of fishing. Lake Norman was recently in the spotlight for an FLW Invitational where NC native Bryan Thrift\u2019s run and gun junk fishing style had him hitting all of the pre-mentioned structure leading to a victory.<\/p>\n
We will perform morning sign up, launch and afternoon check-in from the Stumpy Creek Boat Landing Area. There will be a brief Captains Meeting after which we will launch at safe light (shortly after 7 am) and return at 3:00pm for the \u201cweigh in\u201d. All anglers must be onshore and checked in at 3:00pm. All penalties as per our rules<\/a> will be applied thereafter.<\/p>\n Please spread the word and share this link with fellow kayak anglers.
