The Classic is when we conclude and celebrate our season with fishing and food. This year it will also be when we determine – for the first time – the CKA Rookie of the Year! A number of prizes, qualifications and details are also determined on this final day of the regular season. They include:

AOY winner. The CKA Angler of the Year wins a custom prize package

KBF National Championship slots for the top 5.

The final standings to determine anglers who will proceed to the Tournament of Champions on October 13th.

Location selection for the Tournament of Champions. Remember that the 2019 KBF National Championship will be a multi-lake event, so the Gate City Classic is an excellent practice event for qualified anglers. And because the KBF AOY race is tight, and many KBF anglers are jostling for position in “The Ten” at Bienville Plantation, we expect a large turnout for the combined events.

Event Details

As noted above, the Classic will be held in conjunction with a KBF Trail Event. Anglers may fish either the CKA and KBF event separately, or fish both events simultaneously. The CKA event is a 3 fish limit event and the KBF Trail event is a 5-fish limit event, but an angler’s 3 CKA fish can be cross-posted to the KBF event on Tourney X. Additionally, non-KBF members can compete in the KBF event but we encourage anglers to sign up as KBF members. This post contains

Registration

Tournament Identifiers

Boundaries and rules

Launches

Captains Meeting time and location info

Tournament Start/End Times

Post-Event Check-In info & KBF Trail Payouts

Lake info

For additional updates, visit CKA on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/carolinakayakanglers/

Now for the event details. The ID code will be posted to the CKA Facebook page on Friday night before the tournament (it will also appear on our Twitter and Instagram pages). Please write the ID posted on your ID card. The number must be visible in the photo and we must be able to read the ID number in order for the fish you submit to Tourneyx to be valid.

KBF Identifier codes will be released through Tourneyx and posted to the KBF ID page at this link: https://www.kayakbassfishing.com/identifiers/

3. Boundaries and Rules

You are responsible for reading and following all CKA/KBF rules. All local lake rules also apply, so be careful to read the regulations for the lake you choose to fish. You can CKA rules at this link: http://www.carolinakayakanglers.com/?page_id=38

This joint event will follow KBF rules only, and dismiss any CKA exceptions to the KBF rules made on the CKA rules page. For example, motors are allowed for both events. This means that even an angler who only fishes the CKA event is still responsible for following KBF rules.

Therefore, anglers must be familiar with and follow KBF rules as well as all North Carolina fishing laws and local regulations as they apply to Randleman Lake.

LINK TO KBF RULES: http://www.kayakbassfishing.com/kbf-rules-overview/

 4. Launches

The tournament is a multi-launch event, and the listed lakes and access areas (below) will be the only eligible locations to launch. This is because KBF rules require equal access for all anglers. Keep in mind that some launches have limited space and different hours. Be sure to know the lake rules, arrive early, respect fellow boaters and be careful and helpful at the launches. There may also be additional launch fees.

Please keep in mind that CKA and KBF do not control access to the ramps and if a gate is closed or it opens late, there is nothing either series can do to change that fact. Late opening will not affect check-in time at the end of the day, and all anglers must be present at Get Outdoors for check in before the deadline.

5. Captains Meeting

There will be a live Captains Meeting the night prior to the event. The first will be held on Friday evening at Get Outdoors. Anglers are not required to attend the meeting, but strongly encouraged to do so. If you do not attend the meeting you must watch the virtual captains meeting on youtube at this link:

CKA will provide identifiers at the Captains meetings. KBF Trail anglers will receive their identifier codes through TourneyX and on the KBF identifier page of the KBF website. Those codes must be written correctly on the KBF identifier.

Captains Meeting (Friday, October 5th, 7:00 pm)

Place: Get: Outdoors

515 W Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27403

Time: 7:00-8:00 p.m.

6.
