The 2023 Battle on the Border will be held on October 14th<\/sup>, 2023 on Kerr Lake (Bugg\u2019s Island). This milestone event brings together kayak fishing clubs from Virginia and North Carolina to celebrate the sport of kayak fishing and compete for cash, prizes and beautiful custom trophies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s event marks the tournament\u2019s fifth anniversary. Originally founded in 2019 as a friendly rivalry event between two clubs, the Battle on the Border now has six clubs represented among its anglers. And as the event has grown in club participation, so have its prizes. This year\u2019s prize pool is particularly strong. Check out the details below, and get ready for the event!<\/p>\n\n\n

Event Growth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s tournament will once again have strong payouts. The total purse for payouts stands at $1500 with an additional $500 worth of FishUSA gift cards. In total, that\u2019s $2,000 in cash and prizes available to anglers, before a single entry fee has been paid!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to having the support of Vance County, the event is also sponsored by Carolina Paddlesports Outfitters<\/a> of Winston Salem, N.C. As noted above, FishUSA has contributed gift cards, the prizes made possible by Kayak Bass Fishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combined with entry fees based on typical registration in previous years, the tournament organizing committee reasonably expects there to be a total prize payout of between three thousand to four thousand dollars for this year\u2019s tournament (not including other non-cash prizes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
