Competitors in the Carolina Kayak Anglers Tournament Series earn points toward Angler of the Year (AOY) standings. Anglers who are new to CKA are also recognized in their Rookie season (ROY). In both cases the AOY and ROY races provide excitement and suspense while providing a forum for friendly competition. Additionally, in both cases anglers must be CKA members prior to their first fished event in order to keep their points.

Angler of the Year and Rookie of the year prizes & trophies are generously donated by club sponsor organizations. CKA title sponsor Get Outdoors Pedal and Paddle provides prizes annually to both the rookie and angler of the year, while the club provides custom trophies to the two anglers. A host of other sponsor prizes are also included, and we update competitors as they are announced.
Additionally, in 2023 only, CKA will provide a CKA Angler of the Decade trophy to celebrate the club’s 10th anniversary season!
AOY/ROY points determine a range of benefits for anglers:
- The overall Angler of the Year and Rookie of the Year designations and associated prizes
- The top 10% of the AOY standings qualify for the Kayak Bass Fishing National Championship (KBF NC spots do roll down in the case of anglers who previously qualified, but not roll past the 25th spot; some KBF spots are awarded to top rookies on a discretionary basis).
- Eligibility for the N.C B.A.S.S. Nation State Kayak Championship (top 30% of CKA standings qualify).
- The top 25 in the AOY standings qualify for the CKA Tournament of Champions
