Big Bass Gallery

According to North Carolina’s Wildlife Resources Commission, a Largemouth Bass of either 8 lbs or 24″ qualifies as a trophy catch. We agree, and the 24″ limit is the gold standard for trophy bass in kayak fishing. By our count, six such fish have been landed during CKA competition over the years (2013-), and the photos below commemorate those fish, which are the biggest bass among the tens of thousands of fish that CKA anglers have caught, photographed and released.

A few items of note:

  • Two of the big bass were caught on different lakes on the same day during a multi-lake event in December of 2025.
  • The photos should not be considered examples of proper submissions. The older photos of fish would be denied in CKA competition today because of hand placement (Moua and Crater) or because of an impermissible measuring board (Sullivan and Crater).
  • Joey Sullivan’s fish weighed 10 pounds, 11 ounces.
