Event preview: CKA returns to Randleman!

CKA Tournament 5
Randleman Reservoir, NC
June 24, 2023
Presented by Miller Shed Haulers

It all began on Randleman on a bright autumn day in 2013. Earlier that year, anglers like Shelly Efird were finishing up what would be the fourth and final season of the Carolina Yakfish kayak tournament trail.

When Carolina Yakfish closed shop, they arranged a hand off to a new kayak fishing club. First known as Triad Area Kayak Anglers (TAKA), the club changed its name to CKA in late 2013, shortly after that bright day on Randleman.

That first tournament was a team event, and a good one. And the good ones have kept coming for ten years now.

So join us on our home lake Randleman Reservoir on June 24, 2023, for event 5 of the 2023 CKA tournament season!!!!

  • Boundaries, Launches and Rules

Boundaries: Certain areas of the lake are off limits to fishing and marked by buoys. Do not fish beyond those markers.

The tournament is a multi-launch event, and the listed access areas (below) will be the only eligible locations to launch on Lake Randleman. Keep in mind that launches at Randleman have limited space and driving access, so there will be lines. Be sure to arrive early, respect fellow boaters and be careful and helpful at the launches.

There is an additional launch fee for which anglers are responsible. Please keep in mind that CKA does not control access to the ramps and if a gate is closed or it opens late, there is nothing we can do.

Launches are located at

  1. Southwest Park, 6309 Southwest Park Drive, Randleman, NC 27407
  2. Randleman Marina 7123 Adams Farm Road, Randleman NC 27317

Captains Meeting

The Captains Meeting will be held on Thursday evening (June 22) at 8 pm prior to the event on CKA’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/carolinakayakanglers/

The unique event code will be released on Friday evening on Fishing Chaos.
