Preview: The Battle on the Border VI

What is the Battle on the Border? The short answer: it’s a kayak fishing tournament, Virginia versus North Carolina, the Old Dominion versus the Old North State. The longer answer: it’s also when we fish for fun and celebrate our sport at the end of another successful season. The Battle on the Border is a time to camp and relax, compete and catch-up. Lanier, Gearhart, and Lambert take top 20 for 24 spots

When CKA expanded its portfolio of tournament offerings in 2023, we finally added a friendly, low-stakes on-line series for anglers to enjoy. When it comes to delivering 100” limits to kayak anglers, Lake Mackintosh is the most productive fishery in North Carolina. And…

Recap: Lambert Wins at Falls, CKA Points Race Heats Up in June

The weather held off, just long enough. Saturday, the fourth of May, 2024, saw a big crowd of North Carolina’s kayak anglers descend on Falls Lake for the third event of the 2024 CKA season. The sky threatened rain all day, but rarely delivered more than a sprinkle. The hesitant weather made for a great topwater bite in some areas at the combined event that took place alongside CKA’s tournament; the Carolina Classic grew in its second year, with competitors from Foothills Kayak Anglers and the host, Central Carolina Kayak…
