CKA 2023
10th Anniversary Season
Tournament 2: Shearon Harris Reservoir
Presented by Carolina Waters and Ketch Outdoors
Our 10th anniversary celebration continues ! CKA held its first ever regular season tournament on Shearon Harris in 2014, but it’s been a long time since we last held a tournament on Harris during the prime spring bite. The wait is over – we will fish the lake just as its monster bass move shallow to spawn.
Shearon Harris is a small lake that fishes big. Many of you know it well and fish it hard, and you fish it year-round. You know that in early spring it can deliver the limit of a lifetime. Join us there on March 25, 2023, for Carolina Kayak Anglers at Shearon Harris, sponsored by Carolina Waters and Ketch Outdoors!
CKA History on Harris
Some people say the lake isn’t what it used to be. They didn’t say that after Robert Brown caught a 24.25’ during KFL competition there in 2022.
The biggest bass ever measured in CKA competition was landed from Shearon Harris, and two of the four biggest came from the lake. The biggest was the 24.25” that Larry Moua landed on his way to victory in 2020. We can expect another giant to take the Str8UP Mounts Big Bass prize at this event, too.
CKA has held big tournaments and co-hosted KBF Trail Series events on the lake. We have also partnered with Wildlife in North Carolina on the Harris Habitat Enhancement project to restore native vegetation to the lake. between the fishing and improved lake structure, this event promises to be legendary!
About the Lake
Shearon Harris impounds Buckhorn Creek to create a 4,100 acre reservoir. With a complex food chain of species ranges from abundant bait fishes to apex predators such as catfish, bass, pickerel and bowfin, Harris is a unique fishery and one that regularly produces trophy Largemouth Bass.
There are only four permitted launch locations on the lake. Please be sure to follow parking regulations at the lake’s two main ramps. Be respectful and follow good ramp etiquette.
