2023 Pre-Season Tournament Checklist

Carolina Kayak Anglers encourages all anglers review rules, check gear and otherwise prepare to be compliant with all rules and regulations that apply to our tournaments. This is because we want anglers to have a safe, enjoyable time at our events. The last thing anyone wants is to have their submitted fish disqualified due to a mental error or oversight.

We understand it happens, even to the most veteran anglers. To that end, here is a check list of some basic items to review prior to the start of the 2023 season.

Assorted

  • Do you have a valid North Carolina fishing license?
  • Do you have exact change/cash to pay launch fees at the ramps that charge fees?
  • If you plan to keep your tournament points, is your membership current? (You will receive an email from Fishing Chaos if it is not).
  • Did you download the latest version of the Fishing Chaos app, and check your phone settings for it to allow access to the app?
  • Did you practice using the Fishing Chaos app?
  • Did you review CKA rules, and check the competition and post-tournament meeting times?
  • Did you register for the event and review eligible boundaries and launch options?
  • Did you watch the Captains Meeting?

In the Kayak

  • Did you order a new CKA Tin Tag  or print out multiple identifier cards, and put a spare (with a sharpie) in your kayak in case you lose one?
  • Do you have an approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)?
  • Do you have a 360 degree visible light for early launches?
  • Do you have a Ketch measuring board?
  • If using a motor, is your vessel registration current?

On Tournament Day

  • Did you set a reminder to check in on the app at the launch?
  • Do you have a copy of both your vessel registration and fishing license in your phone or on your person?
  • Are all of your batteries charged?
  • Do you have all of the required or recommended safety equipment (pfd, paddle, etc)?

Finally, are you ready to catch some fish?!?!?!?!

p.s. We will release the event code to write on the ID card on Friday at 8 pm. It will appear on CKA Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
