The 2019 CKA Schedule

At long last, here is our schedule for next year! The decision making process changes every year, and this is how we arrived at the new schedule:

  • We listened to feedback. Anglers who told us about favorite lakes, driving time and spacing of events were heard. This year’s schedule has a tighter geographic radius, returns to some favorite lakes and expands the multi-lake option.
  • We increased cooperation with other regional trails and events.
  • We enhanced the number of multi-lake and multi-launch events.
  • We are working with more local sponsors (more about that in a later post!).
  • We included a “fun” event in the schedule!!!!

And now, because we know there are questions, we have some answers:

Question: What is the Burlington Battle?

Answer: It is a 4 lake event. Lakes are Cammack, Stony Creek, Graham-Mebane and Mackintosh. Like the Gate City Classic, we will meet at Get:Outdoors for check in.

Question: What is the Yadkin Slam?

Answer: The Yadkin Slam is a popular charity event hosted by Boonedox. Last year, it was combined with a KBF Trail event. The event was well run, it supported a great cause, the prizes were amazing and the food and company were excellent. Many of us fished the event, and as a result both parties decided to continue that experience. So we paired up again for simultaneous, parallel events. Yes, you can fish both, and yes the CKA event will be an AOY/ROY points event.

Question: What is the Battle at the Border?

Answer: We paired up with our friend Casey Reed’s VKBC Trail in Virginia to plan a tournament at Bugg’s Island on the NC/VA border. When KBF caught wind of the large regional event we planned, they stepped in to make it a KBF National Championship Qualifying event with cash prizes. And so, it will be 3 events: A CKA event, a VKBC event and a KBF National Championship Qualifying event.

Question: Will there be AOY points awarded at the team event?

Answer: Yes, but for the single angler event only. You have the option to fish a side-event in which teams will compete. AOY points will be for the single angler event only. However, you and a friend can show up and fish the team event by itself, too!

As always, we will continue our great partnership with Get: Outdoors and we will continue to raise money for Heroes on the Water to support their important work. We will post more updates in the coming weeks and months. Thank you again for supporting us, our sponsors and the charities we support!
