2021 was a big rebound year for CKA. Our numbers grew. The Angler of the Year and Rookie of the Year races  went to the finish line in dramatic fashion. We fished our first ever out-of-state event, and a host of great new sponsors came on board. Overall, attendance was larger, payouts were bigger and it all added up to a successful season. The third annual edition of the Battle on the Border was held on Kerr lake on October 23, 2021. 53 anglers from Virginia, North Carolina and other states signed up to compete for prizes, qualifying opportunities and, most importantly, to bring the 1st place trophy to their home state! Competitors were greet by a chilly morning with water temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60’s, and also a lake that was two feet below full pool. Kerr Lake (Bugg’s Island), NC/VA  Overview In 2019, CKA paired up with a Virginia kayak fishing club (VKBC) for a friendly border war.  We called it the Battle on the Border, and nearly 100 kayak anglers fished the event. We continued the event in 2020 with comparable success. In 2021, the Battle on the Border has expanded to invite more anglers and clubs. Stanley wins the 2021 Tournament of Champions

The CKA Tournament of Champions was established in 2016 to provide the club’s top anglers with a chance to fish one final club event each season. Denny Romero won that first event, which was held on the Yadkin River, and since then the tournament has become a prestigious end-of-season battle for prizes and trophies. The 2021 edition was held on lakes Marion and Moultrie in South Carolina, and was CKA’s first ever out of state event. 14 anglers battled over the course of two days (Sept 25-26) for guaranteed payouts….

After a long season of travel and points battles across North Carolina the regular season finally came to its traditional finale with the Gate City Classic presented by Get Outdoors Paddlesports! The weather was near perfect throughout the week with cooler temperatures which should have got the bass biting really well which was the case in the lower end of the lake.
