CKA Tournament 5
KBF Trail Event
Shearon Harris Lake, NC
June 9th, 2017
Overview
Welcome anglers to event #5 of the 2018 CKA tournament season. The tournament will be held on June 9th at Shearon Harris Lake. This is our yearly visit to world renowned Shearon Harris and it is our first time hosting a KBF Trail on the lake. The tournament will be a multi-launch event using the two available public ramps at the lake.
The event will be held in conjunction with a KBF Trail Event. Anglers may fish either the CKA and KBF event separately, or fish both events simultaneously. The CKA event is a 3 fish limit event and the KBF Trail event is a 5-fish limit event, but an angler’s 3 CKA fish can be cross-posted to the KBF event on Tourney X. Additionally, non-KBF members can compete in the KBF event but we encourage anglers to sign up as KBF members.

Event Information
Lake and License Info
Shearon Harris is a legendary bass lake with a local and national reputation (B.A.S.S. ranked it #4 in the USA last season). Harris impounds Buckhorn Creek to create a 4,100 acre reservoir. With a complex food chain of species ranges from abundant bait fishes to apex predators such as catfish, bass, pickerel and bowfin, Harris is a unique fishery and one that regularly produces trophy size Largemouth Bass.
Please be sure to obtain a valid N.C. license and follow parking regulations at the lake’s two busy launches. Motor boats launch at both ramps so be respectful and follow good ramp etiquette.
Camping and other accommodations
Shearon Harris Lake is located in a sparsely populated area without much tourism infrastructure. However, the towns of Cary/Apex are relatively close (10-15 mins) and hotels can be found there.
Additionally, the Jordan Lake camp grounds are within a 15-20 minute drive of Harris Lake. Note that certain campgrounds lock the gates. Call and ask about opening and closing times. For more info on reserving sites, see this link:

The Captains Meeting
There will be a meet & greet and Captains Meeting on Friday June 8th at the Long Leaf Pavilion at Harris County Park. CKA directors will collect entry fees for the CKA event on Friday from 5:30-6:45 pm, KBF Trail anglers will check in and the Captains Meeting will begin at 7 pm.
CKA tournament directors will also be available at Holleman’s ramp only so that CKA registrants can also pay their entry fee in the morning. However they must sign up on Tourneyx prior to paying their fee. No sign ups will be accepted after 4:45 am.
Anglers who cannot attend that meeting must watch the KBF virtual meeting on line at this Youtube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KgAvv9Artk
KBF Trail anglers will receive their identifier codes through TourneyX and CKA will post its ID numbers across its social media. Those codes must be written correctly on the identifiers.
CKA will provide blank CKA and KBF identifiers at the Captains Meetings.
We know many have heard the standard meeting points but due to the size of this event please pay attention, be respectful of the tournament directors while they speak as there will be many new Anglers present and remember that you if you are a veteran CKA or KBF angler, you are also setting an example for new anglers.

If you will require a manual upload with the assistance of a tournament director, you should plan to be off the water early so as to allow directors to help you and avoid holding up the event.
