In 2019, Carolina Kayak Anglers (CKA) paired with Virginia Kayak Bass Challenge (VKBC) for a friendly inter-state tournament to be held on Kerr Lake in July of that year.  Nearly 100 kayak anglers fished the event. The prize? Bragging rights, and a trophy to prove it. The spirit of camaraderie was strong that day and the two clubs decided to make the event an annual tradition. The third annual edition of the Battle on the Border was held on Kerr lake on October 23, 2021. 53 anglers from Virginia, North Carolina and other states signed up to compete for prizes, qualifying opportunities and, most importantly, to bring the 1st place trophy to their home state! Competitors were greet by a chilly morning with water temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60’s, and also a lake that was two feet below full pool. Kerr Lake (Bugg’s Island), NC/VA  Overview In 2019, CKA paired up with a Virginia kayak fishing club (VKBC) for a friendly border war.  We called it the Battle on the Border, and nearly 100 kayak anglers fished the event. We continued the event in 2020 with comparable success. In 2021, the Battle on the Border has expanded to invite more anglers and clubs.
