The 4th annual edition of the Battle on the Border was a year of firsts. At the check-in, for example, former Carolina Kayak Anglers (CKA) director Wayne Butler showed anglers a photo of a Smallmouth Bass he caught that day. In 2019, Carolina Kayak Anglers (CKA) paired with Virginia Kayak Bass Challenge (VKBC) for a friendly inter-state tournament to be held on Kerr Lake in July of that year.  Nearly 100 kayak anglers fished the event. The prize? Bragging rights, and a trophy to prove it. The spirit of camaraderie was strong that day and the two clubs decided to make the event an annual tradition. 2021 was a big rebound year for CKA. Our numbers grew. The Angler of the Year and Rookie of the Year races  went to the finish line in dramatic fashion. We fished our first ever out-of-state event, and a host of great new sponsors came on board. Overall, attendance was larger, payouts were bigger and it all added up to a successful season.
