CKA 2022: The Year in Review
The 9th regular season of the CKA Trail series began on Falls Lake in March. The wind was strong that day but the turnout was stronger, and the trend continued over a busy season that concluded on Lake Tillery in November at the Tournament of Champions. Carolina Kayak Anglers will hold this year’s Tournament of Champions [TOC] on Lake Tillery in Stanly County. There is no cost for the anglers for this event but anglers must qualify by winning an event or being in the top 20% of the club (spots will roll down). In total, there are a total of 23 possible spots reserved but generally some are duplicates. In 2019, Carolina Kayak Anglers (CKA) paired with Virginia Kayak Bass Challenge (VKBC) for a friendly inter-state tournament to be held on Kerr Lake in July of that year. Nearly 100 kayak anglers fished the event. The prize? Bragging rights, and a trophy to prove it. The spirit of camaraderie was strong that day and the two clubs decided to make the event an annual tradition. We called it the Battle on the Border.
