We never thought we would have to write these words: yesterday, we ran an event following CDC and North Carolina Health Department Pandemic Prevention Regulations. KBF allowed partner clubs to qualify 10% of the field at our 2019 trail events. These are known as “at large” qualifying events, and they constitute a more grassroots approach to providing anglers a chance to fish the KBF National Championship, the world’s largest and most lucrative kayak fishing tournament. KBF streamlined the process this year by shifting more of the paperwork to a KBF statistician and to the partner clubs. In June of this year, several CKA anglers signed up and competed in an online charity event run by Socks and Cookies, a 501-C non profit that raises money to send care packages to American military members stationed abroad. CKA anglers who fished that June event spoke highly of how it was run and also of the quality of competition and non-cash prizes that they received in competition.
